Public Works Maintenance Laborer

Hopewell Township is accepting applications for a part-time position in the Public Works Department up to 28 hours per week

Education & Experience:

  • Position requires a High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Applicant must have a valid NJ driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • CDL license is a plus.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Primary duties are the operation of Township Convenience Center; specifically, 10-hour days on Wednesdays and Saturdays when the Convenience Center is open to the residents
  • Duties may require frequent bending, and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Attend and participate in regular safety training sessions
  • Individual should have basic computer skills
  • Candidate should have good people skills, be self-motivated., and have leadership abilities
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, and write short responses
  • The other 8 hours will be designated at the discretion of the Public Works Foreman but will include and is not limited to the following tasks:
      • Maintain township streets, stormwater systems, municipal sewer systems, public buildings and grounds,
      • Be able to operate and service township vehicles and equipment.
      • Ability to perform general duties such as mowing, chipping, snow removal

Background check and drug testing is required for employment.  Maybe subjected to motor vehicle report.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $17 – $20 per hour, commensurate with experience

Benefits: Earned Paid Sick Leave.  For every 30 hours worked, an employee shall accrue 1 hour of sick leave, up to 40 hours per calendar year.
