Economic Development Opportunities
Doing Business in Hopewell
Hopewell is a thriving community in the heart of South Jersey with a proud history of supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, making it a smart choice for new, expanding, or relocating businesses.
A Great Location
The township’s commercial corridor runs along State Highway 49, providing easy access to markets like Philadelphia, Wilmington, Cherry Hill, Bridgeton, Vineland, Millville and Atlantic City via Interstate 295, the New Jersey Turnpike, US-40 and 130, and NJ-55. This location provides a great opportunity for new and repeat customers, which have supported dozens of local businesses, including restaurants, boutiques, fitness centers, financial institutions, professional and medical services, and an Amish market.
Incentives for Business
To demonstrate their commitment to economic development, the Township has instituted a five-year tax abatement incentive to encourage businesses to grow or relocate in Hopewell. This program includes full tax reduction in first year of occupancy, with new businesses receiving an 80% abatement in year two, 60% in year three, 40% in year four, and 20% in year five.
The Hopewell Business Park offers prime real estate bordering State Highway Route 49 and the benefits of being an “area in need of redevelopment.” In recent years, the Business Park has undergone development thanks to the Greater Bridgeton Amish Market, the West Cumberland Senior Center, and Newfield Bank. Additional lots on State Highway 49 and Cassidy Court, the Business Park’s main corridor, are available and are currently being leased as farm land until developers are identified.
Shovel-ready sites include:
- Block 63 Lot 1.01: 1.47 acres with State Highway 49 frontage
- Block 63 Lot 1.02: 3.35 acres along Cassidy Court
- Block 63 Lot 1.03: 3.38 acres along Cassidy Court
